Using LinkedIn career data across hundreds of institutions, we identified the top employers in the U.S., Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, Oceania and South America.

To answer the question of "Where do university graduates get jobs?" the research team at American Caldwell conducted a unique first-of-its-kind analysis of university alumni data compiled from LinkedIn.

The study includes top universities in each region of the world as measured by their global visibility. The companies we saw coming up over and over again among U.S. universities (as seen above) are Google, Amazon and Microsoft. Out of the top 100 universities we analyzed, Amazon appeared as a top employer 54% of the time with Google as the second biggest employer appearing 43% of the time.

To get a more detailed look beyond the United States, we studied the top universities by global region. Here's a look at the job circles for four of the top universities in each region of the world.

Graduates from institutions such as National University of San Marcos, University of São Paulo, University of Chile, and Tecnológico de Monterrey tend to Financial institutions — including Itaú Unibanco, Banco Bradesco, and BCP (Banco de Crédito del Perú) — remain strong employers.

However, there’s also a growing trend toward freelancing, suggesting a shift towards more entrepreneurial ventures.

Across all continents, a few consistent themes emerge:

  • Technology and Finance dominate the career destinations of graduates worldwide.

  • Regional context matters while U.S. and Asian graduates are drawn to tech, African and Oceanic graduates largely enter finance.

  • Government and public sectors remain powerful employers in parts of the Middle East.

  • Freelancing and self-employment are growing as meaningful paths, especially in South America.
